Ravenwood Bulletin - 02 September 2014         Wizard101 Celebrates 6 Years! September 2nd marks the 6th year of wizardly adventures in the Spiral and the party lasts all month long! Celebrate with us and enjoy special giveaways, sales and in-game fun. Even though it’s our birthday, the presents are for you and each week there will be a new free gift! Visit the Wizard City Commons and find secret gift-giving packages hidden all around. For those who love Fishing in the Spiral, cast a line to find a special new fish only available during the month of September. And enjoy this new Birthday Gala Gazebo to bring the festivities home! Keep up with all of these prizes and more at our website. This item must be claimed before September 30th 2014.
From the Test Realm         Coming to Wizard101! The Crown Shop is getting a makeover with improved categories, new sub-categories and a Recommended Items section. Recommended Items are popular in the Crown Shop with other players that share your same school and level. Messy Arcane Builders will be pleased with the “Restore Original Castle” button that’s being added to their Arcane Builder’s house. You can use this button to put all of your Castle Blocks back to the original configuration that came with the Bundle. Also, the Spiral Cup Gauntlet will no longer be limited to Friends only, but will not be usable during Castle Tours or Castle Games. These and many more bug fixes are coming soon to Wizard101.
New Prepaid Cards         New Dollar General Combo Cards Have you seen the new Dollar General Wizard101 and Pirate101 combo gift cards? These are a great gift for a friend or family member (or maybe even yourself!) that plays both KingsIsle games. When you redeem your combo gift card, you’ll receive 5,000 Crowns or a 1 Month Membership in 1 game and a pet in each game! If you redeem this card during the month of September, you’ll get a Blossom Pixie pet (that gives 1 Empowerment Card) in Wizard101 and a Crimson Crawlie pet (with the Riposte Talent) in Pirate101. The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in the Spiral         ALS Awareness in the Wizard101 Community The #IceBucketChallenge has been making waves across the web and Twitter lately. It seems that everyone--including lots of celebrities--has been spreading awareness about the debilitating disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also known as ALS) by dousing themselves with ice cold water, making a donation to their favorite ALS charity and challenging their friends to do the same. Several Wizard101 players have created their own spin on the challenge inside the Spiral, including many Wizard101 fansites! Legends of the Spiral got creative with an Ice Bucket comic. Mercenaries for Hire created a PVP themed video called Ice Ice Baby! Ditto Wizard took the educational approach with his Ice Bucket Challenge video. Paige Moonshade also completed her challenge using a clever in-game technique. The Stars of the Spiral created their own Waterfall Challenge to raise awareness for Sanfilippo Syndrome. FrostCaller accepted the challenge from AluraRB and took the plunge in the icy waters of Grizzleheim. Last, but not least, KingsIsle Community and Public Relations Manager, Tom Purdue (aka The Friendly Necromancer) took the icy plunge for all to see!
What's happening in the community?         Around the Spiral Fishing a lot lately and wishing you had more Energy Elixirs? Try Grub Guardian! Both Duelist101 and FrostCaller wrote guides on getting Energy Elixirs as rewards in Grub Guardian. On Wizard101 Central, Mackenzie Stormblade asks, “If you could be any NPC in Wizard101, who would you be?” Congratulations to the winners of Art in the Spiral’s “Design a Fish Contest,” with some truly creative designs including the InvestiGator, Storm Koiote, Von Surgeonfish and more! New to PVP? Duelist101 has some great new beginner guides on how to build a deck. Check out Part 1 and Part 2. Tom Purdue, from KingsIsle, visited Syndcon and wrote up a blog about this event, hosted by the longest running guild in online gaming. What’s your favorite badge in Wizard101? Storm Owl on Wizard101 Central asks the community. Mercenaries for Hire posted an in-depth guide to the Spiral Cup Gauntlet. For the avid anglers of the Spiral, Duelist101 posted an advanced Fishing guide with advice for catching Epic fish, displaying them in your home and crafting new recipes. Ever wondered about the history of the Spiral? Frost-Caller examines the lore of the Titans. We love it when Wizard101 players get creative and crafty! Check out this crochet Moolinda Wu by Camille posted on Wizard101 Central. Congratulations to the winners of Ditto’s “Fishing with Ditto” contest that made some lovely art and creative fish designs!
